Mould is a common problem in both old and new properties throughout Australia. Damp and mould is caused by water leaks, rising damp or rain seeping in through gaps in the roof, windows or general structure of the property.

Mould can be hazardous to your health and should be dealt with immediately. If not removed properly, mould spores can dislodge and travel to other parts of the property. There are numerous health and respiratory issues that can be caused by exposure to mould.

Aztech Services prides itself on achieving quality results focused outcomes to ensure our clients receive a safe environment to re-occupy. We ensure all hazardous remediation works undertaken are completed and achieve hygiene clearances per Workplace Health and Safety guidelines.

Utilising a multitude of best practice remediation methodologies to ensuring hygienist clearances and compliance upon completing mould remediation works, our scope of works are driven by the highest expectations within the remediation industry with a multitude of past works on large commercial and residential projects across the country.

Given there are thousands of different mould spore types that are currently know, with many more being identified regularly, Aztech Services ensure all works are completed to exceed our clients expectation.

Dependent upon the mould spore type, predominantly mould remediation requires encapsulations to be built, whilst utilising air scrubbers and or negative air pressure unit equipment along with a decontamination shower out units to ensure contaminants are not spread to adjacent work areas.

What Is Mould?

Mould is a type of fungus that grows on all most any surface.  In environments with a high moisture content (humidity), and high temperatures, mould will rapidly grow by branching threads outwardly from the mould spore, these usually resemble dense cobwebs which have spores which often stand up from the surface into the air, ultimately the mould grows in this format to release more spores and spread into other environments. There are thousands of different species of mould, and many more that are yet to be unidentified.

A major factor to determine mould growth are a combination of the right temperature and moisture content in the environment.  When left alone, with no attempt to control or remediate the mould, the reproduction predominantly is in the form of spores which spread via airborne dispersal, or in some cases via insects.

Mould growth can increase rapidly in high humidity and temperature conditions on most surfaces (ie: timber, plasterboard, concrete, carpet, etc).  In lower temperature environments the mould does not generally die off, however transitions into a dormant state, to then regenerate under the correct environmental conditions. Before remediation commences the source of the moisture must be identified and permanently rectified otherwise mould will most likely return.

Exposure to mould can be through your skin, eyes, ingestion and inhalation. Elevated levels of exposure may result a variety of adverse health effects such as eye irritation, fatigue, nausea, shortness of breath and headaches to name a few; however each individual may be respond differently.
